TALK & EXERCISE
Talk & Exercise groups are peer to peer talking groups that include a physical activity. These session are run by volunteers we call Captains.
WHAT IS A TALK & EXERCISE GROUP?
A Talk & Exercise group is a peer to peer talking group that includes some form of physical activity, such as Talk & Football or Talk & Walk… These sessions are run by volunteers we call Captains. We train Captains to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. These groups are held in spaces that work for the activity in the group. For example, a Talk & Run group may meet by a local playing field and a Talk & Yoga group may meet at a local Yoga studio.
The groups use a light version of the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then explain why.
Sessions usually last according to the length of the physical activity. Groups meet at different times, days and frequencies depending on the Captain and availability of space in the community.
