TALK & LISTEN
Talk & Listen groups are peer to peer talking groups led by volunteers we call Captains.
WHAT IS A TALK & LISTEN GROUP?
A Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains. We train Captains to facilitate groups in communities across the UK.
These groups are held in person and online. In person meetings are held wherever men are – gyms, pubs, local cafe’s… in safe and quiet spaces so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why.
Depending on the number of men attending, sessions last a maximum of two hours. Groups meet at different times, days and frequencies depending on the Captain and availability of space in the community.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A TALK & LISTEN SESSION?
1.
HOW ARE YOU?
OUT OF 10?
Check in with a number then explain why.
2.
WHAT ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT?
What are you grateful for?
What are the positives in your life?
3.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR MENTAL FITNESS THIS WEEK?
How will you improve your sleep, diet and exercise?
4.
HOW ARE YOU NOW?
OUT OF 10?
Check out. What’s your number now you’ve shared?
WHO’S THE CAPTAIN?
DONATE TO CHANGE LIVES
Your donation will help us in our mission to create a mentally fit society and change lives.
Our team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to build a community where men can thrive, get their numbers up, and keep them up.
Just like physical fitness, mental fitness needs regular attention and practice to make a lasting difference.
At Talk Club, you can improve your mental fitness by attending one of our Talk & Listen, Talk & Exercise, or Talk & Craft groups.
And if you feel your numbers are dropping, we’re here to help lift them back up through our therapy groups or one-to-one sessions with fully qualified therapists.
