Paul Karl
Hello we are Paul and Karl and we are the Captains of the Central Libraries Talk Club.
Paul
I set up this club in 2023, because of my passion for helping men to help each other, and for mental fitness generally. This captain role is part of my job for Bristol libraries, but I also volunteer for similar projects in my own time, e.g. as a mentor for A Band of Brothers. I enjoy being part of Talk Club, I’ve gained a lot from it myself, and I look forward to welcoming anyone who’d like to pop in for a chat
Karl
I spent my early adult years navigating homelessness, prison, and clinical depression. That journey sprung-boarded me into a career in social welfare advocacy, giving me real insight into the mental health of my community, especially men. Using my own experience, I’m passionate about helping men be heard, find presence, and discover solid ground within themselves.
